A little history lesson...
The Opening Knight Players, Ellington High School’s premiere drama society, was established
in 1990 by Mr. William Prenetta, advisor to the drama group. Prior to this date,
there was no formal theater program at Ellington High School. The first play
produced under this banner was Arsenic and Old Lace. This play premiered on Thursday,
March 29, 1990.
Since its inception, the Opening Knight Players have
produced over thirty productions ranging from main stage productions to one-acts to ten-minute plays.
In 1994, Troupe 5226 of the International Thespian
Society was established to honor the outstanding contributions of members of the Opening Knight Players Drama Society.
Past
Major Productions of the Opening Knight Players range the controversial and critically acclaimed The Laramie Project
to the American classics Our Town and It's a Wonderful Life.
